Class blog - change for the better!

About a month ago, I finally got around to creating my very first class blog. In its first week, my students were tentative. Excited, but tentative. Now, after four weeks, we are humming! I cannot believe what a difference using a blog has made to our day to day classroom life. The students absolutely love connecting with one another and really enjoy sharing their thoughts and ideas. I have been able to link our blog to every aspect of their learning - maths, science, geography, the arts, our class novel, and we have even connected with a K/1 class to help them with their history inquiry learning.

Engagement is rising, students are making authentic connections with important learning concepts, and they are receiving feedback from me in a different way. It's not onerous. I literally set it up and now do everything from my phone or computer in a matter of minutes. Often, the kids are the ones suggesting the next posts for the blog. For privacy reasons the blog is password protected.
